He Captured My Heart In Tennessee

A Cardinal rests on a snow-covered tree,
a strikingly glorious sight to see;
a flaming red with pirate's eyes,
he whistles clearly to passersby.

He makes a statement by his presence here,
in his radiant plumage as he lingers near;
for the new-fallen snow that blankets the land,
enhances his beauty by nature's demand.

It seems he knows the glory he shares,
as he whistles a tune while he's sitting there.
He captured my heart in Tennessee,
a precious gift of nature, shared here with me.

The Worst Winter Storm for a hundred years,
was declared a disaster for states far and near;
though the lull it left hovering over the land,
meant time for reflection had somehow been planned.

Our trip to visit relatives here,
was a joy I'll treasure and always hold dear.
Though it may not have worked out quite as we thought,
this sighting of the Cardinal could never be bought.
